About The Provider
A native of New Orleans, Dr. Dansereau has been providing high-quality care in his hometown since 2004. He feels honored and privileged to be able to give back to the community that he grew up in.
Dr. Dansereau attended UCLA and Tulane University, where he earned his bachelor's degree in Psychology with honors. He received his medical degree from Louisiana State University School of Medicine and completed his residency in Psychiatry at Tulane University School of Medicine, serving as Chief Resident. He has held various leadership and director positions in both inpatient and outpatient settings and received the Dr. Robert Lancaster Prize in Psychiatry for the “Most Caring Psychiatrist among Graduating Residents."
Dr. Dansereau completed a visiting Fellowship at Duke University for Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) and has also done additional training in TMS at the Medical University of South Carolina's brain stimulation lab led by world-renowned TMS expert Mark George, M.D. Additionally, Dr. Dansereau completed an intensive course in TMS at Harvard Medical School's Center for Noninvasive Brain Stimulation. Both Dr. Dansereau and his TMS Technician, Stacey, work collaboratively to provide expert, personalized patient care. Stacey has several years of experience in patient care and assists Dr. Dansereau with TMS.
With remission as the main goal of treatment, Dr. Dansereau continually stays up-to-date on cutting-edge treatment options. With TMS, coil placement on the scalp is one of the most important factors in treatment efficacy. Dr. Dansereau uses calculations that take into consideration the size and shape of the skull, making them more accurate in targeting the correct area of the brain than other commonly used protocols. Additionally, alternate locations in the brain can be stimulated, and different types of pulses can be used if the standard protocol is not producing adequate results. Dr. Dansereau has the training and knowledge to customize a treatment protocol for each particular patient. Dr. Dansereau was the first in Louisiana to offer FDA cleared TMS treatment for obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).
By using the most up-to-date and versatile TMS machine available, depression treatment sessions can be completed in under 3 minutes. This greatly reduces the time commitment for the patient.
By having a streamlined office and a single physician attending to all aspects of psychiatric care, the energy of the practice is devoted to taking care of the patient. Dr. Dansereau has purposefully maintained a certain practice size so that he is able to offer new patients an appointment within one to two weeks.
